Settle Amateur Swimming Club
The
Swimming Club was first formed around 1975 by Keith Maltby
who was the Pool Manager at that time. He was a firm
believer that ALL children needed to learn to swim. As time
has gone on the pool has introduced more learn to swim
lessons with qualified swimming teachers, recently the club
found it more and more difficult to find volunteer teachers,
so in 2008 the swimming club changed it's format to how it
is now.
All children first learn to swim through the pool lessons
and once they reach badge NP7 they are then moved into the
clubs 1 hour Monday session, and eventually progress to the
clubs 1 1/2 Thursday session.
The club are lucky enough to have Marijke Hill as Coach for
both sessions, she is a level 2 teacher qualified to teach
to pre competition level
The Settle Area Amateur Swimming Club provides swimming tuition on Mondays and Thursdays

On Mondays, we train for one
hour and the
emphasis is on: - development of overall fitness level - development of technique - introduction of stamina - introduction of speed - introduction of competitive starts and turns - introduction of IM. Badges to be awarded are: Bronze and Silver Challenge; NP9 to 12; distance awards Classes are taken by Marijke Hill, who is a fully qualified ASA swimming instructor up to competition level. It costs £4.00 per pupil per lesson of one hour. |
On Thursdays, we train
for one and a half hour and the emphasis is on: - development of overall fitness level; - development of pre-competition swimming; - development of stamina whilst maintaining technique; - development of speed whilst maintaining technique; - development of competitive starts and turns; - development of IM. Badges to be awarded are: silver, gold and honours challenge; speed awards per stroke per distance; competitive start awards. Classes are taken by Marijke Hill, who is a fully qualified ASA swimming instructor up to competition level. It costs £5.00 per pupil per lesson of 1 ½ hour. |
